Rampage

This post is for my Halo pals that congregate once a month to slaughter each other mercilessly in Halo 3. I’m not sure what to consider myself when it comes to the game. I’m definitely no pro. But I’m not a rookie either. I only get to play the game once a month. I don’t own it and so I don’t get to practice it inbetween meetings. During the course of the six hours on average that we play, my playing level varies between matches. I can totally rock and then totally suck. My favorite is to play what has been dubbed “half-life” because it takes less shots to kill an opponent. This somewhat levels the playing field for those of us that only play twelve times a year or less. I achieved a medal this past weekend that I’ll be proud of for some time. Playing half-life with Battle Rifles on Valhalla I collected the Rampage medal. That’s 20 kills in a row without dying. Oh yeah! They were all kills while sniping with the Battle Rifle. Bungie rates this medal’s difficulty a 9 out of 10. I don’t have many highlights to my Halo stats, so I think I’ll savor this one for a while.

Why So Serious?

If you haven’t seen the latest installment in the Batman movies you must be trapped in a cave in, have no interest in Batman or movies of the genre or are too haunted by the first four movies’ path to putrescence. I have to admit I did not see Batman & Robin, the fourth film which starred George Clooney as Batman (it came out at a time where my outlook on movies was evolving). I enjoyed Batman Forever at the time it came out because Jim Carrey (the Riddler) was popular and I was young and naive and did not yet understand what a good movie consisted of other than cool special effects. The first film was definitely the better of the four. Nicholson did a good job at portraying the Joker as an evil villain but didn’t really portray him for the psychotic prankster that he is (except for maybe the electrocuting hand-buzzer).

It’s sad to think that Heath Ledger can no longer be a part of the new Batman movies. His performance in Dark Knight was probably one of the best acting jobs I’ve seen since becoming aware of actors and actresses performances being important in making good movies. Do yourself a favor and go see this movie in the theaters (at least once if not more).

Elevation Church T-Shirts

I started making these designs a while back. The 80’s Rock sermon series kind of inspired me to make these. If they sold these t-shirts at church, I’d definitely buy one (or more). Since no one was very happy about my seat nazi design, I figured these would go over a little smoother. And these are designs that could seriously be made into t-shirts as opposed to the seat nazi one (which was a joke). I even made a t-shirt for the ladies (and possibly some guys that are secure in their masculinity).

The Island Papers: The Barracks

I get pretty preoccupied with other things and so I hope I don’t disappoint anyone that has enjoyed “The Island Papers”. I actually finished this a couple of weeks ago but haven’t posted it yet. I need to get to work on some new “Papers”. These are about the Barracks. I couldn’t fit everything I wanted on one “Paper” so there are actually two. The Barracks have appeared on a couple of maps on the show and so when you combine that with the numerous amount of screenshots from the show, the location seems somewhat easy to determine (or at least the general area). I think that the dock is within the perimeter of the Barracks. in “The Man Behind the Curtain” it would appear that when people arrive on the island, the Dharma folk don’t seem concerned with any dangers as they welcome the new arrivals. Namaste!

Stupid Geese

Some friends of mine were on their way to church yesterday on I-485. They were riding their motorcycle when some geese got in the road in front of the car in front of them. From what I’ve heard the story goes something like this: The car in front slammed on the brakes, then Ben slowed down on the bike and then the person behind him didn’t slow down in time and hit the back of his bike. There were three cars and their motorcycle involved.

The last update I was given was today around 10 AM. Ben has a severely bruised hip and a broken wrist. Candice’s situation is worse than I was originally told. She has a broken foot, a broken leg and her pelvic bone is broken. She will be having surgery. Please pray for my friends as this is something that will affect their lives for a while.

Here’s the news video on the accident – http://www.wsoctv.com/news/16869198/detail.html

Recipe for Disaster

As we were leaving the mall yesterday afternoon, this license plate caught my eye. Then when I saw the ballet sticker on the side I couldn’t help but record it for posterity.

The Island Papers: Flight 815 Fuselage Survivors

Other than the main crash site of the fuselage, the survivors of Flight 815 that were in the fuselage spent a good bit of their time during season 1 at these three locations. As mentioned before and noted on The Papers themselves, these locations are hardly definitive, but I believe they are pretty close. Comments are welcome whether for or against.
