I get pretty preoccupied with other things and so I hope I don’t disappoint anyone that has enjoyed “The Island Papers”. I actually finished this a couple of weeks ago but haven’t posted it yet. I need to get to work on some new “Papers”. These are about the Barracks. I couldn’t fit everything I wanted on one “Paper” so there are actually two. The Barracks have appeared on a couple of maps on the show and so when you combine that with the numerous amount of screenshots from the show, the location seems somewhat easy to determine (or at least the general area). I think that the dock is within the perimeter of the Barracks. in “The Man Behind the Curtain” it would appear that when people arrive on the island, the Dharma folk don’t seem concerned with any dangers as they welcome the new arrivals. Namaste!

The Island Papers: The Barracks
Other than the main crash site of the fuselage, the survivors of Flight 815 that were in the fuselage spent a good bit of their time during season 1 at these three locations. As mentioned before and noted on The Papers themselves, these locations are hardly definitive, but I believe they are pretty close. Comments are welcome whether for or against.
The Blue Tarp
I’ve been meaning to comment on this for a while now, but haven’t found a good way to do it. It’s something that has always made me snicker at because it seems so convenient that there is this abundant supply of tarps on the island. Do airlines really carry that many tarps on their planes? Or is there something else at work here…
This is just a little something I cooked up to laugh at and is in no way related to The Island Papers I’m working on. But I thought it was funny enough to share with my fellow Lost junkies.
In an attempt to map out the wreckage of Oceanic Flight 815, there are many things to take into consideration. The main thing to consider in all of this, or at least important to remember, is that this is a TV show filmed at different locations on the island of Oahu. Oahu has many similar features that coincide with the Island. But they are not identical. Most of the Island that we have seen from Lost has been the western coast of the island and the central area of the island located between the two mountain ridges. So when I look at screen captures to try to figure out locations based on the location of the sun and the time of day it is, my research is bound to be flawed. In case you miss it there is a little disclaimer written on all of the Papers that I put out.
I am a little hesitant to publish any of the Papers. I’ve been done with the Tail Section paper for a week or so now, but I have made some adjustments because I have noticed something that doesn’t seem right or that doesn’t make sense or could be argued against. I imagine that even after this post I’m going to see something on there that I don’t like.
For any of you Lost junkies that read any of this and didn’t get to this post by way of the following site, you need to check this one out for some really good insights about Lost: Not Confused Just Lost
The Island Papers
This is for all my LOST junkies.
The first step is admitting you have a problem. Hi, my name is Chris and I’m a LOSTaholic. I love the mystery of the island most of all. There are so many maps of the island online but many of them do not coincide with one another and so they can become confusing. I have decided to do a little research project of my own entitled: “The Island Papers”. Hopefully this is something I will continue in the future.
I realize that this first “paper” is not anything new to anyone who has ever had anything to do with LOST. But for anyone who might be new or for anyone who isn’t as nerdy as myself and many others, this could be interesting. I figured I’d start with the fuselage since the show is really focused around the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815.
Any comments or arguments about my research is greatly appreciated. If someone has a better theory, then I may change the “papers” as needed. This is really something that I decided to do to pass the time until Season 5 starts next year.
